Welcome to the "PART" Website
In individual countries, and all around the world, the sheer numbers of road deaths and serious injuries are a relentless travesty that few people ever even think about.
Please consider these horrifying but entirely accurate comparisons:
In the approximate 120 years since motor vehicles were invented, road crashes have killed far more people on this planet than have all of the known wars in history, combined;
If a natural disaster as big as the 2004 Pacific tsunami were to strike somewhere in the world five times a year, the overall death toll would still be lower than the number of people killed around the world each year in road accidents (i.e. 1.2 million - WHO);
For the USA, the comparison would be a tragedy on the scale of the World Trade Center massacre happening 16 times a year (i.e. on average, once every 23 days). The result of these disasters, collectively, would still be a lower death toll than occurs on America's roads each year.
If this scourge on humanity is to be successfully fought, people need to made dramatically more aware of the problem.
The "P" in PART is shown above as representing "Parents" but please don't think of this as a limitation. That "P" also stands for road safety Professionals, Ph.D.s, Police officers, Professional driving instructors, Peers, Professional drivers, People in general, and – one can only hope – Politicians.
